Faith & Focus: Life Behind the Lens with Heather Corbin Photography- March 14, 2025

Where I Am – Behind the Lens- March 2025 Edition

I am going to start a new blog series where I’ll be sharing about my life behind the lens. I hope you enjoy getting to know me better.

Right now, I’m sitting at my kitchen table, watching the Indiana countryside slowly wake up to spring. There are spring bulbs just starting come up through the soil. The past few days have been so warm and sunny- absolutely incredible! The fields are still mostly brown, but there’s a hint of green starting to peek through, reminding me that lots of warmer days are coming. It’s that in-between season—one foot in winter, one foot in spring—and it feels a little bit like life right now.

In My Business…

Wedding season is about to kick into high gear, and I’m already looking at my calendar, wondering how it filled up so fast! But before wedding days take over, I’m in the thick of another season—Purdue graduation sessions.

I had my first cap and gown session this week, and now through early May, I’ll be spending a lot of time on campus, capturing grads in front of the iconic Purdue landmarks. It’s such a fun shift from weddings—there’s something special about the excitement and pride on their faces, knowing they’re about to step into a brand-new chapter of life.

And for my fellow Boilermakers out there, if you haven’t booked your grad session yet, now is the time! These spots fill fast, and trust me, you’ll want photos that go beyond the iPhone shots on the front lawn.

In My Home…

This time of year always makes me itch to declutter and our church is getting ready to host a garage sale to raise funds for a summer youth mission trip. I want to fill up some boxes to donate. Maybe it’s the fresh start that spring brings, or maybe it’s the fact that winter had us hibernating a little too much. Either way, I’ve been pulling things out as I move through my daily routine—closets, kitchen cabinets, and office. There’s something about clearing out the old that makes room for creativity and new ideas.

This week, with the warm weather, I have been putting my clothesline to use. All the big winter blankets have been washed and line dried for ultimate freshness. Sweatshirts and jeans have also been line dried. Country life has its perks!

In My Family…

Right now, my heart is completely wrapped up in my son, Wesley, and his incredible wife, Anna. Wesley is receiving CarT therapy treatment in Indianapolis as we continue this long battle against leukemia—a battle that began all the way back in 2012.

I can’t even put into words what this journey has been like. It has been filled with highs and lows, victories and heartbreaks. And now, I am praying boldly that God’s Army of CAR T cells will find and destroy every last cancer cell in his body. If you’re the praying type, we would love for you to join us in lifting him up.

If you would like to follow along with his journey, you can visit his Caringbridge page. Wes and Anna keep it regularly updated and will include specific prayer requests.

Our motto has been, and will continue to be, that in all HARD things of this life- GOD is BIGGER!!!

Growing in Christ…

I don’t know how I’d be standing without Jesus right now. This season is stretching me in ways I never expected, and I am leaning HARD into the arms of our loving God. There are days when the weight of it all feels like too much, but then I remember the hope we have in Christ. He is our anchor when the waves get rough, and He has been so present through every step of this journey.

Lately, Psalm 46:1 has been on my heart:
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

No matter what we walk through, He walks with us. And right now, I am clinging to that truth with everything in me.

A Prayer

A Prayer for Those Facing Difficult Health Battles

Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up every person who is facing sickness, pain, or an overwhelming diagnosis. Lord, You are Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals, and we stand on the truth that nothing is beyond Your power. You see every struggle, every tear, and every anxious heart. You know the depths of our fears, and yet You call us to trust in You.

Jesus, we declare that You are our Healer. You walked this earth touching the sick, restoring the broken, and bringing life where there was none. We ask for that same healing touch today. Bring strength to weary bodies, peace to anxious minds, and endurance for the road ahead. Surround them with Your presence and let them feel the depth of Your love.

Lord, when the journey feels too long, remind us that You walk with us. When doubt creeps in, fill us with unwavering faith. When healing doesn’t come in the way we expect, help us trust that You are still good, still working, and still holding every moment in Your hands.

We pray for doctors, nurses, and caregivers—that You would guide their hands and give them wisdom. We pray for families walking alongside their loved ones—that You would strengthen them and hold them close. And for those in the thick of the battle, Lord, wrap them in Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Jesus, we ask boldly for miracles. We believe You are able. We trust in Your perfect will. And no matter what comes, we rest in the promise that You are with us, You are for us, and You will never let us go.

In Your mighty and healing name,
Amen.

On My Heart…

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the importance of capturing life as it is. Not the Pinterest-perfect version, but the real, raw, beautiful moments. Life. Life is such a treasure!

Moms who are too busy or too self-conscious to be in pictures, couples caught up in the whirlwind of wedding planning, seniors walking across that stage wondering what’s next—I see you. And I want to remind you that your presence, your love, and your story are worth documenting.

So, whether you’re planning a wedding, celebrating a graduation, walking through a storm, or simply trying to soak in this season of life, I hope you take a moment to be in the picture—messy bun, busy schedule, and all.

That’s where I am right now. LIFE!

I’m so very thankful for each and every day- Life is a treasure!
