Family Pictures at Prophetstown State Park: The Baugh Family

Prophetstown is beautiful year-round for family pictures,

but my favorite is with the fall colors.

Fall is the most popular time of the year for family pictures.

“Fall Family Photo Season” kicked off for me with the Baugh family.  It rained earlier in the afternoon but cleared up just in time for their session.  We had beautiful soft light.

If you enjoy nature and native grasses and plants then getting your family pictures at

Prophetstown State Park is a wonderful location to choose.

The Baugh family is just BEAUTIFUL!  They are gorgeous humans on the inside and out.

  • This was an extra special family photo session for me.  You see, the Baugh family and the Corbin Family (my family) are both pediatric cancer warrior families.  We met while our respected sons battled leukemia at Riley Hospital for Children.  Tasha and I spent weeks and weeks together on the 5th floor as both our sons were inpatient.

  • To photograph their family, far from the cancer world, was such an incredible JOY!!  What a blessing to see Cameron growing up, thriving, and living cancer-free!

  • We met under the worst of situations, but in the hospital, friendship formed fast.  I’m so thankful for Natasha’s friendship and her company all those weeks we spent at the hospital.

Tips for choosing outfits for fall family photos:

Natasha absolutely nailed choosing their outfits to go with the fall color theme.  Dresses are always good choices and a button-down shirt for Erik was a good selection. She selected colors that look good together, rather than being matchy, matchy.  One subtle print with Erik’s shirt complimented the solid outfits the rest of the family wore. Natasha chose colors for her family that looked good on them but also were warm autumn colors that go with the season.

At a family photo session, we get traditional “everyone looking at the camera smiling” pictures as well as interactive and playful photos.  It is my goal to capture genuine emotion and connection.

I always make sure to get pictures of the family all together, kids together, individual kids, and mom and dad together.  We grab other photo groupings along the way as we can.

Capturing Love Stories

Erik and Natasha are high school sweethearts.

What a precious gift they have in their relationship.  Through all the hard of the cancer years, they clung to each other and came out stronger.  No one ever would choose to go through cancer with a child, but they grew stronger in the relationship as they navigated the rocky path.  Now on the other side, they see that good can indeed come from walking through the fire.

Family photos at Prophetstown State Park, outside of Battleground Indiana,  are absolutely stunning in the fall.  The Baugh family pictures were taken right as the fall colors started making their appearance.
