Family Pictures at Happy Hollow Park | The Pekny Family

Family pictures freeze this moment in time!

Family Pictures become priceless treasures- especially milestone years!

It is always such an honor to take family pictures- to freeze this special moment in time.  Kids are only this age just this once!  I have had the privilege of taking the Pekny family pictures three times over the years. Campbell and Chase have gone from being little ones to grown-ups!

This is a milestone year for the Pekny family.  Their oldest, Campbell, graduated high school and will be heading off to college this fall.  They wanted to capture this pivotal year with family pictures.  Freeze time!

Shout out for GREAT outfit choices! The Pekny family chose outfits that complimented each other without being too “matchy-matchy”. They choose patterns carefully. I say that they get a 10/10 for outfit selection!

Location Selection-

Happy Hollow Park, West Lafayette Indiana, is a great Lafayette / West Lafayette area location to have photos taken.  I know it can feel challenging to choose a location, but family pictures at Happy Hollow Park will not disappoint.

The park is a great spot for senior, family, and engagement pictures. I met up with the Pekny family at Happy Hollow Park on a beautiful summer evening in June.  This park has wooded areas, grassy fields, paved pathways, flower gardens, and playgrounds. There are places in this park for all kinds of different pictures.

Traditional poses and interactive pictures-

  • When I take family pictures we always take the “Everyone smiling and looking at the camera” traditional pictures.  These are important.  However, I mix things up with interactive action shots.  The activities vary depending on the ages of the children, but the ultimate goal is to capture authentic smiles, emotions, and relationships.

  • “The Ambush” is an activity I use with almost every family.  It is always a hit- regardless of the ages of the kids.  Dads really like this game, too.  With the Pekny family we “ambushed” Mom first, and then Campbell.  Basically, the family runs up and “ambushes” the chosen person.  The ambush results in lots of laughter and a big group hug.

  • Both Chase and Campbell are/ have been high school wrestlers.  So, when I told Campbell to put her brother in a headlock she didn’t have to think twice!  When I asked Chase if he was strong enough to run with Campbell piggyback- “Of Course”!  Playing and interacting produce some priceless pictures.

This prompt brings out the fun!

Sibling FUN!!!

It is always fun to capture genuine smiles and laughter through play and interactive prompts.

Campbell didn’t hesitate for a second when I told her to put her brother in a headlock. Both Chase and Campbell have been high school wrestlers- so this was a natural prompt to give them! Then, I had Chase show us how strong he is by giving his sister a piggy back ride. Lots of laughter followed.

I hope the Pekny family enjoys their family pictures!
